About Shared Places Planning

At Shared Places Planning our multi-disciplinary team leads the co-creation of places with a special focus on social inclusion. We use public spaces and community places as a nexus where complex social and community dynamics and needs can begin to be understood and addressed. We seek a shared understanding of existing uses and conditions in these places, and apply interdisciplinary tools from urban planning, design, anthropology, ethnography, psychology, sociology, public space management, social work, and mental health to develop people-oriented solutions that make places inviting, equitable, engaging and inclusive. Our goal is to create and sustain great places that encourage meaningful interactions, offer supports to those in need, and help people grow their social networks, opportunities, and sense of belonging.
